Play Ground

This may be old news, but I thought it was interesting enough to call attention to. Here’s something to chew on. Sculptor Tom Otterness was commissioned to design a private playground. In bronze. Tin Man playground.

Photos from the Tom Otterness Website

This is what I would call “functional” art in the landscape!

  1. I really like the idea of playing in sculpture. I'm going to be smiling about this one for days.

Atlanta has a modern playscape in Piedmont Park by Isamu Noguchi which doesn't have near the sense of humor of the Otterness. But the Noguchi is really a great place to play. Those shapes really work.

  2. That is so fabulous. I have decided that the only way it's really fun to be a kid is if your parents have a lot of money, this way you get your own decorated room, en suite, playgrounds like this, it's a happy life!

ps. thanks for your comment, you are funny :)

  3. That is excellent and looks like so much fun!

  4. This is awesome! I have seen too many bright colored plastic ones for sure.

  5. That's really cool. I have an architect friend that started out designing playgrounds, now she is part of a team that designs buildings for educational purposes. She's gonna' love this.

  6. Hi, pam. I like your blog and I'm a landscape architect too!! :D
